CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/requirements:

5+ years experience, in increasingly responsible positions, in the life insurance or financial services industry
Knowledge of insurance or financial services accounting and financial operations.
Knowledge of the systems of internal control applicable for life insurance or financial services financial operations.
Knowledge of US GAAP accounting
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, coupled with impressive planning and organizational skills.
Willingness to roll up sleeves and get involved in details.
Effective interpersonal skills; ability to interface with diverse business practices and cultures, as well as the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership of the various businesses.
PC proficiency (Lotus Notes, Excel, Word).
Self-starting attitude with a high level of initiative, aggressiveness and energy.
Exceptional integrity and credibility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of this position is to :
provide support to Latin American and Asian operations in accounting and internal controls,
assure tax compliance within Latin American and Asian markets
conduct research on US GAAP issues and pronouncements, and
coordinate SarbOx process

The AVP/Director Accounting Policy and Standards will support the team:

Accounting:
· Support markets in developing their US GAAP accounting expertise, including communication on new requirements, ongoing training, implementation, regular monitoring and reporting to Home Office.
· Work with markets to identify accounting issues, conduct appropriate research, develop/formulate proposed plan of action and implement.
· Coordinate with markets for timely identification, assessment and reporting of accounting changes. Educate markets to become more active in this process.
· Provide operational accounting support to markets – assist in setting up procedures/accounting for new products, implementing new processes for enhanced controls and operational efficiencies.

Internal Controls:
· Provide Sarbanes-Oxley (section 302 process) support and oversight as well as overall SOX coordination.
· Direct standardization of financial policies and procedures, development and implementation of a plan for continuous monitoring and improvement.
· Provide support to market on internal control matters, with focus on finance.
· Monitor and report on the progress of the markets’ implementation of the control recommendations put forth by local internal audit, Parent Company internal audit, local regulators and external auditors.
· Act as a facilitator in leveraging Home Office experience to assist the markets in developing their internal controls.
· Provide education to markets about financial internal control principles and use of tools/techniques to assess and monitor such controls.


General:
· Foster environment of teamwork and mutual support
· Provide support to Finance function where needed, especially during quarterly close and annual business plan.
· Provide support to due diligence efforts that may arise from time to time.
· Provide project or ad hoc assistance as required by management.


EDUCATION

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, as is a CPA designation.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will consist of a competitive base salary, performance bonuses (annual and long-term), and an attractive benefits package.
