Title MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER
Description INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT
FULL TIME
Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer will manage a portfolio of approximately 100-120 individual prospects and donors, focusing on closing gifts primarily – but not exclusively – in the $10,000 and $100,000 range for Client’s highest philanthropic priorities. The Major Gift Officer will work collaboratively with Center faculty and staff to identify and initiate contact with grateful patient and other major gift prospects.
Requirements Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree Required.
Experience: 5+ years of development experience in the fundraising field with a concentration in major gifts; proven success with major gift strategies for individual donors.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to interact and develop relationships with key constituents; must be goal oriented and motivated and able to maintain composure in a fast-paced and demanding environment while working collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the institution; must demonstrate a clear understanding of, and appreciation for, the mission of Client and have the ability to convey the importance and urgency of the mission to key internal and external constituencies in writing, on the phone, and in personal meetings.
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook; use of blackberry and basic knowledge of how to search for relevant donor information on the internet required.
